I have often mentioned to our guests that for a freshwater fish, the Fraser river sturgeon offers a tremendous experience to those that angle for these unique and formidable fish. Not only do you fish in some geographically beautiful surroundings, but you may also witness a variety of wildlife that utilize the river’s edges.  Animals such as deer and bear, not to mention a myriad of birdlife from songbirds to vultures to the apex predators like bald eagles, are frequently sighted along the Fraser’s banks.  There is something inspiring in watching an osprey hovering over the water and seeing it suddenly fold up its wings to dive straight into the river.  Once the osprey resurfaces, it launches itself back into the air with its fish to take to hungry young back at the nest.

Add in the angling experience of hooking a sturgeon with rod and reel, and you will find these trips offer plenty of value, even for companions watching the events unfold in the boat with you.  I am certain that at some times, it is much more enjoyable to watch your angling partner battle a fish, than being on the end of the rod!  Sturgeon are notorious for long runs, aerial displays and unmatched stamina that can cause some arm aching discomfort!  All of these traits, and more, coupled with the scenery and wildlife around you, are what drive anglers to the Chilliwack area to fish. And, its not just for sturgeon.  We enjoy some very good salmon fishing at times.  With good planning, you can easily enjoy fishing for salmon and sturgeon on the same trip!

Below are a few pictures of what makes the Fraser river sturgeon fishing experience unique, exciting and memorable!
